Everything You Need to Know About the Cider Harvest Festival

While technically it’s still summer, there’s been a crispness in the air lately that reminds us fall is just around the corner. And with fall comes many wonderful things, including harvest season!

On Sunday, September 30, join us for the second annual Cider Harvest Festival here at our farm and orchard in Cobble Hill. We’ll be bringing together fifteen of BC’s top craft cideries to celebrate the art of craft cider. Everyone who attends will be able to sample lots of different products from each cidery, meet the makers, and generally learn about craft cider from those who live and breathe it every day. We will also have an pop-up store where you can purchase full-sized bottles of cider and spirits from all the participating cideries at the Festival. That’s right – sample everything and then purchase a bottle of your favourites from the day to take home.

This year’s participating cideries will include:

  • Merridale Cidery & Distillery
  • Tod Creek Craft Cider
  • Salt Spring Wild Cider
  • Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse
  • Twin Island Cider
  • Summerland Heritage Cider Company
  • Dominion Cider Co.
  • Left Field Cider Co.
  • Naramata Cider Co.
  • Faustino Estate Cidery
  • Blue Moon Farm, Winery and Ciderworx
  • The Bricker Cider Company
  • Scenic Road Cider Co.
  • The BX Press
  • Gabbie's Cider
  • Valley Cider

The event isn’t only for cider lovers, but for anyone who is interested in the concept of craft, especially with a focus on BC products. The educational aspect of having the cider-makers on-hand is what makes this event really special. It will serve as a fun and inexpensive introduction to the world of high quality craft cider, which can be dry, intense, and interesting in so many ways. And we haven’t forgotten the food! Savour tasty local food from our kitchen in one hand, while sampling cider with the other. For those wanting to sit and relax, the Eatery will be open for a more leisurely lunch.

If you haven’t already been to our farm, a visit in person is the best way to understand what makes us unique. Our entire operation takes place in the middle of a working orchard. When you’re here, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll amongst the mature apple trees before tasting ciders and spirits at the bar or tucking into a meal on the covered patio which overlooks our property. The Cider Harvest Festival will take place in the eatery and courtyard; a true orchard-to-glass experience at the height of harvest season.

Tickets to the festival are on sale now and can be purchased online here. General admission is $15 and includes six cider tasting tokens and a souvenir tasting glass. Designated drivers, children, and pets are free! Additional drink and food tokens will be available for purchase at the event. Bus transportation to Merridale from Victoria (Wilson's Group of Companies) and Duncan (Garden City Transportation) is available for $20 and can be reserved online with purchase of festival tickets.

We hope to see you at the Cider Harvest Festival!
